The Effect Of Covid-19 Toward Education

What Teachers should Do?

Covid-19 has been declared as an injurious World Health Organization (WHO) on January 30, 2020. Coronavirus is a type of virus that causes diseases with severe symptoms to mild symptoms. There are two kinds of coronavirus they are Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). It causes someone to get Covid-19. It is a new disease that humans have never identified before. Covid-19 Virus is called Sars-CoV2 where there are still a few researchers.

            However, the effects of the spread of Covid-19 in our lives affect not only health factors but also multidimensional, one of which is education. Although, the complicated handling of this virus makes world leaders put out a massive act to stop the spread of the virus by doing social distension and lockdown. Social distancing becomes a very heavy choice until it has an impact on the education factor. The government's decision to suddenly cancel schools and process face to face learning became an online version. The process is causing many people to shock caused by unfamiliarity with the online system.

            During online learning, according to some people who used social media complaints suggested by students and students at university, they are said they do not know at all, some are saying “Online learning is useless”. Here I’m as a writer concerned. Besides that, there’s motivation to say “Long life is education” If the situation like this time as a teacher we must make the learning process more effective. I believe that the teachers have performed the best learning process but why the students feel disappointed during Online learning?

            As a teacher, we have done the best learning for the students when it doesn't affect what the teachers should do? First, Making a Video Related to The Material. The teacher doesn't give homework to the students all day. The teacher must ask the students about their understanding of the material they have read without explanation done by the teachers. This is the reality, the teachers don’t guide their students, they just give homework every meeting. Teachers must record themselves to explain the material to make the students understand.

            Second, Making Online Games. Creative teachers know how to make the students interested in their material during online learning so it doesn’t bore them. So many kinds of Applications we can use to make an online game like Hotpotatos App, Wondershare App, Quizziz, etc. All of them based the teacher want, what they want to do to combine all the application. The creative teacher to perform their material becomes a game helpful and insightful.

            Third, Re-write what the students understanding, it is a traditional system but it’s rare to apply in the school. The teacher just explains the material dan students just hear the explanation after it’s done. So, what the students get? Ask them to read a book at home. It is impossible. Today, where everything is technology and students spend most of their time using gadgets rather than re-reading the lessons they have already learned. It is possible when the teacher asks the students to write their understood about the point of the material in group chat immediately, don’t ask your students to write down in the paper to prevent the cheating going on.

            Besides that, the problem of carrying out online learning is technological mastery for both teachers and students. I believe that no teacher is lazy, teachers always try to give the best in learning. But, It’s just technological mastery that is less inhibiting the online learning system. So, I invite all readers to improve our skills in technology especially to the teacher. Next, the lack of facilities is also a problem. Having facilities is not a common problem any more than currently, teacher’s welfare is still low. Including the students, not all parents can afford to give their children the facilities.

              However, current development requires civilization and affect the world of education, especially now that we are caught by a very dangerous virus (Covid-19).  These days of engineering, it is not likely that further process learning will be carried out online because of the rapid and easy effectiveness of advanced science. This method of change prepares for current development. All the changes and outbreaks that have been made are not what we want. Everything that happened with the silver lining. Therefore just enjoy and be grateful until now that we are healthy. May we all avoid the Covid-19 virus. Stay at home, stay healthy.
